Presented by the Office of Access and Disability Services at Harper College, Beyond Awareness is a disability symposium focused on moving from conversation to action. Centered on the principles of Disability Justice, this event explores how we can actively create more inclusive, accessible, and equitable spaces in our communities, workplaces, and institutions.

Through engaging sessions, speakers, and interactive discussions, participants will examine the intersections of disability with race, immigration, gender, and other identities while gaining practical tools to implement disability justice in everyday practice.

We are honored to feature keynote speaker Jen White Johnson, an Afro‑Latina artist, designer, educator, and disability justice activist whose work reshapes ableist visual culture and amplifies the voices of disabled communities, especially through art and advocacy. Her photography and design are featured in major collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and she has collaborated with organizations such as Target, Adobe, Converse, and Twitter.

Please register and join us as we move toward meaningful change.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for attendees.
