Jazz Ensemble

The Harper Jazz Ensemble will be performing with International Jazz Bassist Liany Mateo. Along with being a world class bassist, Liany is also a stalwart of the New York jazz scene. She has worked with musical giants such as Jazzmeia Horn, Mark Gross, Herlin Riley, Matthew Whitaker, and Christian McBride. The Harper Jazz Ensemble will be performing the music of recently passed musicians including music from Quincy Jones, Benny Golson, Slide Wayne Shorter. While also opening the door for some of our young student composers! Come join us as we spread love and community through the HJE!

The Harper Jazz Lab Band will be performing songs by unsung heroes of Jazz music who may not have been as recognized by the public but have been a pillar for many Jazz musicians including pianist James Williams and Carla Bley. We will also be exploring original compositions from current artists who are at the forefront of the idiom such as Joel Ross and Gretchen Parlato.
