“WORN, TORN, REBORN – a memoir”
Tickets: $15 available at the Box Office, includes breakfast
Come and see fabulous hand-made Chanel Jackets and Little Black Dresses created by Harper College Fashion Studies students.
The theme of the 2024 Fashion Show is “WORN, TORN, REBORN – a memoir” and focuses on sustainability. Students are challenged to reduce the fashion footprint by repurposing materials that otherwise would have been destined for the landfill. Come see the innovative ways Harper students incorporate elements of renewal, sustainability, and storytelling into their designs.
The Jury Show has been produced by Fashion Merchandising students as a capstone project for the “Promotion of Fashion” class. It showcases the garments designed and produced by Fashion Design students.
The Fashion Studies department is pleased to welcome guest speaker Samyuktha Vijayan to the Jury show. Vijayan is an acclaimed filmmaker and fashion entrepreneur. Her film "Blue Sunshine" is based on her own life and centers on a high school teacher who transitions from male to female amid family and social pressures in a small town in India. “Blue Sunshine” will be screened at Harper as part the South Asian Film Series on May 8 at 2 and 6 pm.
