Join in on a 30 minute movement break (walk) at the Health and Recreation Center Walking Track (Building M) with other Harper students and employees on Wednesday, June 22. A Health and Recreation Center membership is not required.
Feel free to drop by anytime between 11:00am - 1:00pm to raise awareness for PTSD Awareness Month and learn about resources by committing to a 30 minute walk! Various community and campus resources will also be provided throughout the event. Pizza and other light refreshments will be provided for participants.
June signifies Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. According to the National Center for PTSD, about 6 out of every 100 people (or 6% of the population) will have PTSD at some point in their lives. In addition, when individuals serve in the military, they may be exposed to different types of traumas than civilians. The war they served also may affect their risk because of the types of trauma that are common. War zone deployment, training accidents and military sexual trauma (or, MST) may lead to PTSD. It's important to STEP up to raise awareness for PTSD by getting moving! Registration is required: https://forms.office.com/r/t0Gs5Xwvbe
