by Jireh Breon Holder
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Freedom Riders. Join special guest Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr., Freedom Rider, Kevin Long, Director, Mary T. Christel, Dramaturg, and Dorothy Walker, Site Director of the Freedom Rides Museum in Alabama, as we explore the ideas and issues raised in Harper’s upcoming April production of Too Heavy For Your Pocket by Jireh Breon Holder. Hear Dr. LaFayette, Civil Rights Movement activist, minister, educator, lecturer, and an authority on the strategy of Nonviolent Social Change, share the experiences he faced as he fought to integrate public buses. We will ignite discussion, bring the play’s concerns into sharp focus, discuss inspiration, determination, process, and encourage you to think beyond the stage.
For further details, please view the event program and Dr. LaFayette's bio.
