The concert opens with Antonín Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds, a lyrical and graceful work that showcases the warmth and versatility of the wind ensemble. With its charming melodies and elegant phrasing, this piece sets the tone for an evening of musical exploration.

Next, Gustav Holst’s iconic First Suite in E-flat takes center stage, a cornerstone of the wind repertoire. Its three movements—each distinct in character—highlight Holst’s innovative spirit and mastery of orchestration.

The program continues with William Schuman’s Chester, a bold and patriotic work rooted in American history. Based on a Revolutionary War-era hymn, this piece reimagines the past with modern energy and rhythmic drive, bridging centuries of musical tradition.

Robert Sheldon’s Cherished brings a heartfelt and introspective moment to the program. This contemporary work reflects on themes of memory and legacy, weaving lush harmonies and poignant melodies into a deeply moving musical narrative.
